PILOTS FOR SUSTAINABLE PILOTING, IJMUIDEN

Weather and wind, ships, strong quays, locks, bridges and steel industry smoke. This is the context for the Pilotage Service’s new pilot operating base. Inspired by this environment, a sustainable and energy-generating building has been constructed from sturdy, robust materials. OPEN AND PEACEFUL WORKING, AMSTERDAM

In cooperation with Garritzmann architecten - The project has a wide variety of rooms. The small student accommodations, short-stay-facilities, are plain and finished with a functional touch. The office space is in fact an office landscape wherein two branches of the company are separated through a ‘‘Sliver’’, a curtain made of long thin acrylic slices. We chose to give the whole space a slightly metallic atmosphere. The ancillary functions are designed with a warm and inviting character.
