LIFT TAKES SENIOR CITIZENS’ CARS TO THE NEXT LEVEL, TWELLO
A supermarket and several homes have been replaced and combined into one building on the edge of the village center, beside the Twellose Beek. This has created one large building between the village center and greenery, a building that is in keeping with the environment and creates a lot of open space.
Clear parking and shopping logistics, covered loading and unloading of trucks, good connections with the village, clear entrance to the homes, a ground floor level that is as lively as possible and not too imposing. These were the most important starting points.
Linked to Twello’s shopping area, the supermarket has an entrance from the car park to the south, a loading dock to the west and open corners on the north and east. 37 homes were constructed on top of the supermarket in 4 different blocks. Brickwork of varied types and colors strengthens the subdivision into smaller blocks; enabling this substantial construction to match Twello’s scale.
The homes are located around a rooftop car park, with a car lift to transport cars to the top. Accessible via galleries around this roof, the homes themselves are contemporary and spacious, with large balconies. Currently made suitable for senior citizens, these homes’ easy access and flexibility can also accommodate other groups in the future. A multiplicity of sustainability measures, including a large area of photovoltaic cells (PV cells), guarantee low energy consumption.
